As part of the renovation and expansion work carried out for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2021 in today’s Audi Arena, the former Schattenberg ski stadium, the existing funicular from 1997 (also from ABS) was replaced by a modern barrier-free inclined elevator for easier operation and better serviceability over the next decades.
The complete ski jumping facility with all five jumps is available to the ski associations every day in a groomed condition. The number of squad athletes with their coaches has more than tripled in the past 10 years. For this reason, the planned construction measures aim to achieve a sustainable and future-proof further development of the training base with the disciplines ski jumping and Nordic combination.
The inclined elevator with landings, track and elevator technology leads from the bottom stop in the run-out area of the ski jumps parallel to the new small jumps and across an access road to the top station. Two intermediate landings were installed for the small ski jump and for the existing HS 60 youth hill.
